2015 Paragliding World Cup Superfinal - Valle de Bravo, Mexico — Task 8

Torsten Siegel pays homage to a great champion and some lost friends...

"Again on the last day I have the honor to write a report. Two unusual weeks in Valle ended today with a 90km task in race style. But only for those pilots who chose the correct route and lines. The direct route across the flats—the correct decision in the first task—was the wrong decision this time.  At the last minute, I decided to join the group which took the route over the long South Ridge. Aaron, Michael 1 &2 and a few other team pilots were also in the game. The positions were shuffled again, and the return was carried out in the same manner. On the 3 Kings, the race was "decided". The big leading group with world class pilots raced into the time cylinder within a minute of each other. This meant that everyone got practically the same points. We were able to already send our congratulations to the World Cup Super Final winner Stefan Wyss already! Stefan has shown his class with a unique performance in these unusual conditions. Three race victories and always in the top rankings says everything. Respect for this great performance!

Aaron was our best team pilot, finishing the World Cup Super Final in 6th overall. During the strange flying days he struggled like most of us with wrong decisions but improved day by day with the better flying conditions. After two exhausting weeks, we all are happy to travel back home. Our thoughts here in Mexico were also with our friends Stefan Schmoker and Raphael Luckos, who didn’t came back home from previous competitions in Valle. No matter where they are now; with Lemmy they have now at least an ally and it should be not boring at all.

In this sense: Born to lose, live to win!"
