14th FAI World Paragliding Championships, Colombia 2015 — Task 7

Let the good times roll!

"The cream of the GIN crop floats to the top"

Roldanillo finally delivered a one hundred kilometer day which can only be described as a royal battle:

There were no fewer than four reserve deployments. Fat cumulus ensured several airspace violations as pilots misjudged the potent climbs. A number of the lead gaggle went down at the very end.

A witness of a low mid-air collision spoke of how one pilot was completely gift-wrapped in the glider as they fell above the massive power lines:

"It took for ever for them to separate and even longer to deploy.

I was convinced they were going to hit in the lines."

Luckily both pilots narrowly missed the line and were unhurt.

The celebrations at goal were more the result of relief after a vigorous day of active flying.

Christian, Jose, Petr and Frank will feel robbed as they dominated only to land short. Aaron and Michael stormed in with the first five followed by Marc, Thomas, Torsten, Pavel and Michael all in the top twenty.

We are happy to report that GIN pilots are now in the first two podium positions. We wish Michael and Torsten all the luck in the world for the rest of the contest.
