14th FAI World Paragliding Championships, Colombia 2015 — Task 9

"Chrigel snatches another task victory for GIN"

Not many were optimistic about the day given the torrential rain after a cancelled day. We dutifully trudged up to launch in the gloom. Mist, rain, coffee and mud were the order of the day. Two hours later the ground hugging cloudbase lifted and we had sun in the valley. A sixty six kilometer task was set set where the conditions produced respectable climbs albeit with a limited cloudbase.

A tentative start transformed into a full out race as conditions continued to improve with more than one hundred and thirty pilots cramming into goal in good form in what turned out to be a bit of a crowd pleaser.

Christian Maurer crossed the line in joint first position bringing the GIN team task tally to a total of three victories along with a handful of top three performances.

The overall standings remain tight with Michael and Torsten in the top four with everything to gain as we eagerly anticpate the last day of this incredible event.
