Paragliding enters the world stage

Paraglidng will feature in the 18th Asian games to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018. The Games is organised by the Olympic council of Asia and will feature 45 nations.

The paragliding disciplines included are cross country racing, accuracy landing and tandem accuracy. In total, 8 gold medals have been allocated to the Paragliding category. 12 pilots per nation will compete in the Puncak region of Indonesia. The take-off is to be renovated and it is likely that a pre-event will be held in August this year.

Speaking at the technical Delegates meeting held last week, Gin Gliders CEO and chief designer Gin Seok Song remarked, “This event has a real potential to get paragliding into the Olympics due to the raised profile of the sport. I hope that pilots around the world can encourage their national FAI representatives to lend their support.”
